The 3-day Apurimac River Expedition is an exciting combination of class III-V rapids, and the stunning landscapes of the Apurimac Canyon. The river runs in the high Andes between Cusco and Arequipa. During this trip we run multiple Class V rapids and spend two nights sleeping along the river under the stars. We have designed
a new adventure for the rafting fans in the Apurimac whitewaters, discovering the canyon of the Apurimac, one of the most amazing places in Peru.
Apurimac River Rafting itinerary:
Day 1: Cusco - Huallpachaca - Paltas Beach
Our private transport will pick you up at your hotel. We will arrive to 4,000 (masl.) then we will descend to 2,200m where it is the starting point of the river expedition. And then we will have our safety briefing and the practice on the river, each passenger will have turns swimming in some moderates rapids so we will practice grabbing the safety kayaks and also securing rescue lines. After that we will have 2 hours on the water and then we will pass by the rapids of Class 2, 3, & 4, after that we will rest around the fire to enjoy the night.
Day 2: Paltas Beach - Table
Today is the longest day on the river and there will be passing by the rapids of Class 2, 3, 4 & 5. The practice is very important to enjoy this adventure, for safety reasons we will have to walk and jump some rapids feeling the nature in the Apurimac canyon, together with the mythical Andes. After that, we will have our lunch in one nice place that is good to relax & rest, in the afternoon we will have more rapids and then we will stop to end our adventure today, where we will have to collect firewood for our campsite.
Day 3: Table - Quinta Primavera
After a very good night sleep under the whisper of the river, you will have a healthy breakfast and then we will start again our extreme adventure running the river, today we will be doing Class 3 & 4 rapids, and then we will arrive at the biggest Apurimac rapid where we will be doing Class 5 rapids, feeling one of most extreme adventures. After that, we will have our lunch and should be back in Cusco around 5.00PM.
What you need to take:
- Sleeping bag.
- Mattress.
- Flashlight.
- A complete set of dry clothing.
- A pair of sandals/tennis shoes for the river, that will get wet.
- Sunblock, a small towel, a bathing suit to wear under the wetsuit.
- Insect repellent.
- A positive mental aptitude.
Tour includes:
- Private transportation.
- All the rafting equipment, such as helmet, life jacket, paddle, self-bailing raft.
- Spray jacket, wetsuit.
- Bilingual professional rafting guide.
- Transportation back from the river.
- All camping equipment.
- Two breakfasts, three lunches, two dinners.
