The unique structure of Moray creates microclimates similar to those found in greenhouses, making it an important site for agricultural experimentation. This archaeological site played a crucial role in the domestication and adaptation of wild plants for human use.

Next, visit the Maras salt pans, which are natural evaporation ponds. From a vantage point, you can admire the full extent of these salt flats. The Salinas de Maras, dating back to pre-Columbian times, continue to produce salt using traditional methods developed by the Incas. The valley contains around 5,300 salt pools managed by 480 members organized into three cooperatives. Salt harvesting typically occurs during the dry season, from May through October.
